Hussein Issa: Car Buyer Since 1997

I am Hussein Issa. I started alone in 1997 in Germany. 10,000 Deutsche Mark in startup capital, one man, no office. Buying vehicles myself, reconditioning them myself, selling them myself. In 2001 I moved the buying operation entirely to Luxembourg and built the business here step by step. In 2016 I gave the Luxembourg car-buying operation its own legal form and had mirkaafenaerenauto.lu (MKAA sàrl) registered in the Trade and Companies Register. In 2018 my brother Jehad joined as co-shareholder. He has been running the finance side ever since, while I focus on vehicles, purchasing and the dealer network. Nearly three decades after the first day in Germany, we run the company today with our team at two locations. Seat in Roost, branch in Bertrange. I have bought and resold more than 40,000 vehicles over that time.

From a small purchasing office to an established address in the Greater Region

The path was not linear. It grew over three decades, with several locations that came and went before the current two branches emerged as the long-term base.

1. From 1997
   Entry into the car buying business in Germany
   Started on the German side of the border, small and without a safety net. 10,000 Deutsche Mark in startup capital, no employees, no office. I began with individual vehicles and did absolutely everything myself: buying, reconditioning, selling. For four years I learned the trade from the ground up: how to properly assess a vehicle, how to negotiate, how to work with customers and dealer networks. That is the foundation everything at mirkaafenaerenauto.lu is built on today.
2. 2001
   Shift of the buying operation to Luxembourg
   After four years in Germany I understood that the Luxembourg car buying market is simply better. Luxembourg has one of the highest car densities in Europe at around 698 cars per 1,000 inhabitants and at the same time the youngest median fleet age in the EU at eight years. On top of that, countless 36-month-lease company cars come back to the market every three years. For a buyer this is the ideal ground: younger cars, higher average prices, more volume per year. So in 2001 I moved the buying operation entirely to Luxembourg.
3. Sandweiler
   The first Luxembourg purchasing office
   Started in Luxembourg with a small office in Sandweiler. The rooms became too small for the incoming traffic quickly.
4. Ehleringen and Esch-sur-Alzette
   Two intermediate stops
   First a move to Ehleringen, then to Esch-sur-Alzette. Both locations were necessary intermediate steps to find the right place in the south of Luxembourg for an established operation.
5. Bertrange, Rue de l'Industrie 26
   First hall in Bertrange
   Investment in a dedicated hall. Bertrange becomes the operational base, first at 26 Rue de l'Industrie.
6. May 2016
   mirkaafenaerenauto.lu (MKAA sàrl) is registered in the Trade Register
   I give the Luxembourg car-buying operation its own legal form and have mirkaafenaerenauto.lu (MKAA sàrl) registered in the Registre de Commerce et des Societes under number B 206.366. Share capital: 12,500 euros, divided into 100 shares. The operational day-to-day continues under my responsibility, as in the years before.
7. February 2018
   My brother Jehad joins as co-shareholder
   After years working solo, I bring my brother Jehad Issa into the business as co-shareholder. From that point on we share the responsibilities: he takes over the finance side, the bookkeeping, and the contact with the bank and tax advisor, and I focus on where my strength is: vehicle evaluation, purchasing, and the dealer network I have built up over 20 years of Luxembourg market presence. In the same month, we move the registered seat of the company to Bertrange, where we already operate on the ground. This division of labour is, to this day, the reason we can offer above-average purchase prices. I know which dealers in the Greater Region are currently looking for which vehicle, what prices are really being paid on the resale side, and what a specific buyer is actually willing to give. That margin is what we pass back to our customers in the purchase price.
8. June 2022
   Seat transferred to Roost
   We transfer the registered seat of the company from Bertrange to L-7759 Roost, 8 route de Luxembourg. This brings us closer to the north of Luxembourg and lets us cover the Mersch, Ettelbruck and Diekirch regions directly. Bertrange remains as a second branch and continues to serve the west and south of the country.
9. August 2025
   Formal managing director registration
   The registration in the Trade Register is brought in line with the lived structure: my brother Jehad and I are both entered as the official managing directors of mirkaafenaerenauto.lu (MKAA sàrl), with service address at the seat in Roost. The formal RCS registration now mirrors on paper the way we have been running the business together for years.
10. Today
    Two locations, one team, more than 40,000 vehicles bought and resold
    mirkaafenaerenauto.lu (MKAA sàrl) has its seat today at L-7759 Roost, 8 route de Luxembourg, and operates the Bertrange branch. The team has been working in its current composition for years and covers all steps from first contact to payout. I have bought and resold more than 40,000 vehicles over my career. The top brands on our lots are Volkswagen, BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz. Record year so far was 2022 with more than 13 million euros in sales volume on the outbound side.

The team behind mirkaafenaerenauto.lu

Behind mirkaafenaerenauto.lu today is a team that grew step by step: for the first years I did everything alone, then sales staff, the workshop and the office joined. In 2018 my brother Jehad came in as second managing director. Since then the management is divided into two clear roles: I take care of the vehicles and the day-to-day operations, my brother Jehad takes care of all financial transactions.

Name rights and domain portfolio

Our domain portfolio for the Luxembourg market covers the core brand architecture around mirkaafenaerenauto.lu and Mir Kaafen Aeren Auto. Since 2016 we additionally hold the Luxembourg name rights to wirkaufendeinauto.lu and wkda.lu, that is, to the well-known "Wir Kaufen Dein Auto" brand for the Luxembourg market. For clarity: mirkaafenaerenauto.lu is an independent Luxembourg family business (MKAA sàrl, RCS B 206.366) with its headquarters in Roost and a branch in Bertrange. The German platform of the same name, wirkaufendeinauto.de, is operated by a German company based in Berlin. That is a separate business with its own legal form, its own ownership structure and its own area of activity. All domains from our portfolio redirect to our hub at mirkaafenaerenauto.lu.

How we work

mirkaafenaerenauto.lu (MKAA sàrl) is a Luxembourg family business with two permanent branches in Bertrange and Roost, its own on-site team and regular opening hours. When you come to see us, you sit down with a buyer from our team and we inspect your vehicle in person. The price we quote you is the price you get. If your vehicle does not match our first offer, we keep working with our European dealer network to try to find a better offer. The valuation is free and without obligation. Because Jehad, as treasurer, directly oversees the payouts, the SEPA transfer is made as quickly as possible once we have reached an agreement.

Every year at the Luxembourg Auto Festival

mirkaafenaerenauto.lu has been present at the Luxembourg Auto Festival in January for years. The festival is the industry meeting point of the year. That is where dealers, buyers and manufacturers talk to each other, and we are there every time with our own stand.
